Intro to AP Chemistry
We will be covering background skills required of students heading into AP Chem. These include basic understanding of periodic trends, atomic theory, orbital diagrams, Lewis structures (formal charges), Stoichiometry, balancing equations, and other topics. In addition we will be giving a brief overview to the class and the AP exam.

Labs in AP Science
Get some hands-on lab experience to prepare you for the plethora of labs you'll have to plan and tackle next year. Learn about the key components to a strong lab write-up and how to ensure that all your bases are covered (no pun intended). We will also focus on how to apply content learned from text and lectures to labs. Also get an overview of lab safety and other miscellaneous good to knows.

Equipment Training
Still afraid to light a Bunsen burner? Don't know what a burette is? Not sure how to read the meniscus of a graduated cylinder? Get some experience with common lab tools and materials!

AP Physics Intro — Problem Solving Techniques
Reading isn't as heavy in Physics as it is in Chemistry or Biology, but on the other hand, its math emphasis requires that students know how to manipulate variables and understand relative ratios and their implications to real world concepts. This workshop will teach students how to become familiar with factor labeling and dimension analysis, algebraic skills for variable elimination, and techniques for solving word problems.

Asking Questions & Working in Groups — Ms. Noche
Ms. Noche, an AP Biology and Honors Human Anatomy & Physiology teacher at Logan, will be offering a workshop on how to ask questions in AP Science. Scientific inquiry is what drives scientific advancement, and the mark of a good scientist is one who knows how to ask good questions. Your AP Science classes will require that you ask questions when you don't understand a concept, and knowing how to ask questions will allow you a glimpse into the motivations as to why certain concepts were investigated and discovered, and why you're studying them today. Also, this is a rare opportunity to spend time with Ms. Noche (also adviser to pre-med club) if you want to learn more about biology and the medical fields.
